2012/2013 Energy Tax Credit
American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012 (H.R.8)
To qualify, windows and patio doors must be ENERGY STAR® qualified for the region in which they are installed.
For the 2012-2013 taxable years, homeowners may claim:
- 10% of the cost (not including installation and labor costs), up to $200 for windows and skylights; and up to $500 for doors. The aggregate amount of the credit is limited to $500.
- A taxpayer is ineligible for the credit if the credit has already been claimed in an amount of $500 in any previous year. It is not on top of the $1,500 limit in 2009-2010.
Products must be installed in the taxpayer's primary residence by December 31, 2013. New construction is not eligible.
